Over the years Automotive Repairs have been done by Auto Techs and Mechanics, only trained mechanics can perform such jobs as it requires the right skills and knowledge. These has made auto mechanic a skilled profession.
With the advent of On-board Diagnostics (OBD) protocol a lot change in the Automotive Technology Industry, as Vehicles are able to self diagnose themselves using a computerized system know as Electronic Control Module (ECM). The ECM receives signals from the Sensors and process it to pass information to the Vehicle dashboard and also make some modifications and actions with the aid of the Actuators.
With present day integration of robotics into Automotive manufacturing, it has provided a room for improvement on this technology to involve the use of robots in Automotive Repairs.
This technology wouldn’t be difficult as the OBD protocol would give instructions to the robots on the job at hand and the repair procedures. Although this may be a difficult task but with time such Technology would evolve easily.
